Arthur Ransome’s classic novel Swallows And Amazons has been adapted for the screen for the first time in more than three decades (older readers may remember the 1963 TV series, or the 1974 movie, reviewed at movies4kids here), and this new version stars Rafe Spall, Andrew Scott and Harry Enfield. It’s the story of four children spending summer in the Lake District who happen across an island in the middle of a lake, but discover they are not the only inhabitants.
The movie opens in the UK on August 19th, and in the meantime check out the first trailer:
The people behind blockbuster hit The Lego Movie have a new animated comedy out later this year called Storks. Opening on October 14th in the UK and September 23rd in the US, it’s the story of that breed of birds that used to deliver babies… only now they deliver packages for a global internet giant. That is, until Junior accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine and produces a baby girl that he has to deliver with the help of his friend Tulip before his boss finds out.
Jennifer Aniston, Andy Samberg, Kelsey Grammer and Keegan-Michael Key are among the actors providing the voices and you can check out a new trailer, along with some cute character posters, below.
With Daniel Craig not returning to the role of 007, speculation has been rife over the last few weeks as to which lucky actor – or actress – will win the role of the world’s most famous spy. One newspaper reported that Jamie Bell had been seen lunching with the producers, while fans of TV’s The Night Manager argue that Tom Hiddleston is the best man for the job. Meanwhile, none other than Star Trek actor William Shatner championed Scottish actor Sam Heughan of Outlander fame for the part, and – suggesting we may have our first Jane Bond – both Gillian Anderson and Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke have also been mentioned. And don’t forget Damien Lewis, Aidan Turner, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender and Henry Cavill who have all been tipped as potential Bonds.
As of today, no one really knows who it will be or even when an announcement will come – but we at Movies4Kids don’t care! Here’s our mash-up video featuring some of our favourite suggestions (sorry Mr Bell, you’re not in there as in our eyes you’ll always be Billy Elliot!) – take a look and if you like it, please give it the YouTube thumbs up, give it a share, and subscribe to the movies4kids YouTube channel as we’ll have more videos coming very soon…
