There are quite a few exciting films for families and kids coming up before Christmas, including The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug and Frozen, but if you have a dinosaur fan in the house, the date for you to put in the diary is December 20th, as that is when the truly jaw-dropping Walking With Dinosaurs opens in cinemas.

From Saturday 16th November, the annual Children’s Film Festival – now named FRAMED – is taking place at the Barbican in London. If you’re in the capital, there are some great screenings and events for kids of all ages, with the highlights including:
A behind the scenes look at the BAFTA Children’s Awards, with guests including the creators of The Amazing World Of Gumball (Sunday 17th, 3pm)
A film quiz for older kids – How Well Do You Know Your Hunger Games? – that asks questions about well known book-to-film adaptations (Friday 22nd, 5pm) and is followed by a screening of the latest Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire
A preview screening of the new Disney animated movie Frozen (Sunday 24th, 4.15pm) which doesn’t open in the UK until December 6th.
